Happy and Healthy
Let me describe a moment for you. Two parents, with their 5 month old spontaneously decide to go to the park.
They take their little girl to the park, put her on the swing with her daddy and her mummy pushes them (gently.) Baby girl loves it and starts smiling, her loving parents are teasing one another and cooing after her.
That was a moment of wonder that I experienced today. I went for tea and a walk with a friend, on the way back we met her husband on the way to taking his daughter to the park. We joined in and she had a wonderful time, her parents, still very much adventurous and still very much in love brought much joy and this little girl was surrounded by love.
The whole thing was spontaneous, beautiful and truly what life is about. Completely free of thought and money, no one worried about what was going on in Ukraine, not a phone in sight and it was all easy conversation and cooing and hugs. 3 young people and a baby.
I can’t stress enough that this is in fact what life is about. When you close your eyes for the very last time in death, these are the moments you will remember, the memories you will cherish, the spontaneous walk on the beach, the laugh of your daughter, the teasing and easy affection of your spouse. Not a penny of material value, but utterly priceless.
What beauty, what joy what simplicity and the best part of it was… I was there. I got to see first hand what it was all about, really what it means to be living and I thank the young family for that wonderful moment. I thank baby girl for her easy cuddles and smiles. I thank her parents for allowing me into their family time, their generosity of spirit and secure attachment style. I thank God for giving me breath to see this day because, it truly was wonderful. (more on elements of it later)
I pray that when I have my own children, I have plenty of these moments, where I have a secure attachment to my children, am able to give them love, self actualise and grow as a person.
I don’t however want to skip the spouse, with the teasing, chemistry strong bond and deep love. The good conversations and light, joyful touches and meaningful kisses. To create a family unit rooted in our love.
My parents had it. My parents lived an incredibly hard life and I truly marvel at the tenacity of both of them, however they also had rock solid love, laughter and joy. Something no one could take from them and believe you me, life really tried to take their joy from them.
I also wish these happy, healthy moments on you. In abundance.
To end, this moment is the true embodiment of John 10:10. “Jesus said I came that you would have life, and life in all its fullness.”
Words to live by.
Grace and Courage.
