Be about your business.
I want to discourage idleness. Idle talk, Idle gossip, idle entitlement.
I genuinely believe that the root of all the worlds problems can be traced back to idleness. I believe therefore almost all the worlds problems would be healed by people being about their own business and not spending precious global resources on making someone’s life hell. I once spoke about a famous quote by Elizabeth the first of England. “I will not make windows into men’s souls” She was speaking at the time about not caring if a man was Catholic or Protestant. But they words ring through the ages. Michael Jackson famously sang. “But, if you're thinkin' about my baby
It don't matter if you're black or white” and that is exactly what we should be living by. Not caring if someone is black or white, rich or poor, old or young, man or woman. People should mind their business and not focus on that which divides us.
Racism is a prime example of idleness. The DNA coding that makes us black and white is less than 5% of our total DNA. Literally, more unites us than divides us.
Next we have sexism. The difference between the sexes are the difference between having an XX chromone, and an XY. Have you ever seen a misogynist reject a kidney because it was a “woman’s kidney” and therefore inferior? Please. Name 5 people you know who have done this. I’d love to meet them. I believe misogyny is a luxury item. There are no atheists on the battlefield, and you will often see if a misogynist has their life in a woman’s hands that they will keep their nasty comments and actions very much to themselves. We need to stop affording these men misogyny. Ladies. If you hate men, I am taking away your privilege to do that too.
Next, we have those of the LGBT+ community. Lets say you are sexually active, and I mean ACTIVE. You have sex everyday for 30 minutes. That is 3.5 hours a week. 182 hours a year. That is equivalent of just over a week of the year (168 hours in a week.) there is 8,736 hours in a year. If you are having sex for 182 hours out of 8,736 that is just 2% of the year. Yet we define someone based on something they do for 2% of the time. And 2% is if you are having a damn good time. We spend 1/3 of our time sleeping, yet I don’t see us discriminating against those who snore. As a daughter and granddaughter of a snoring mother and grandmother, THAT is a discrimination I can get behind. My suffering growing up was real.
Yet we divide ourselves based on differences that are in fact are tiny. Why? Because we have time to do so, we make time. We make time to hate our fellow man and its because we don’t have the pressing needs of being able to feed ourselves to worry about. In ancient times the warrior class were something to be afforded, because 99% of the population were farmers. They needed to be afforded to fight for the honour of the king. They were not the warriors battles. They were the king’s battles. In the same way we pay for defence spending, its something we can “afford” to do. If there was a choice between eating once a day and fighting enemies we may not have. I bet you’d chose eating. Its hard to relish wars when you are starving. You suddenly find yourself really willing to make peace when there isn’t food in your body for a few days. But because we don’t have to make that choice, we don’t, we have both. We pay to destroy our enemies. Because we have money to feed ourselves. Hence why its idleness.
Entitlement. Entitlement to a certain lifestyle is an idle sin. This world is in fact a great equaliser. We are all born in the same way, we are all pursue happiness, we all love in the same way (even with different love languages) we all share the exact same hopes and dreams for our children and loved ones. Therefore the idea that you are entitled to anything is a fallacy. You are entitled to what you work for, you are entitled to decent treatment, to be treated with dignity. But material wealth is not your entitlement. I believe it comes from a place of scarcity mindset, that you have to dominate the world with your needs and wants because you don’t believe if it was shared equally you would get as much.
Gossip, profits no one. Hatred profits no one. Both things come from a place of pain. We all have pain within us and therefore I would encourage you to heal the pain in yourself rather than adding to the pain of others. Because the devil males work for idle hands. The thing about working for the devil is that the office location is Hell, so please don’t come to me when you get burnt.
